Springtime in Laughlin, Nevada, always sunny and always windy.

The Spring Conference is behind us, and again, we were provided
with 3 very engaging and qualified speakers.

To start with, this year we were housed at the Aquarius Casino and
Resort.  It was remarked by many people that this location was a
welcome change from our past venue.  The conference room was
large and nicely stocked.  The rooms were good, and most
importantly, the elevators arrived in a timely manner.  The only
gripe of note was that the hotel-supplied "host" of the conference
room was not allowing outside beverages brought in, even if they
were purchased from businesses housed within the hotel.

The conference was kicked off with Toby Gloekler who spoke
during both the morning and afternoon session on Friday.  His talk
on crush force covered the history of its use, how to properly
measure a vehicle under difference impact configurations, and of
course, the various crush equations currently in use and the
importance of balancing forces between the impacting vehicles.

Lee DeChant of DeChant Consulting Services started off our
Saturday session by giving a detailed talk on photogrammetry.  He
explained how the process worked, and then gave numerous
examples of how it can be used within the reconstruction world.
When provided with a photograph similar to what we get in the field
work, Lee was able to show how iWitness was able to assist the AR
person in extracting distances and measurements.

Our final presentation was by Dick Parkans of Arizona Department
of Public Safety.  I was unable to attend the talk as I had to shuttle
two of his DPS associates to the airport, I have heard that the talk
was very beneficial in learning how to utilize your digital camera in
field work.  I have read his presentation material and have indeed
learned a great deal.  I recommend downloading and reading Dick's
material in addition to those of Toby and Lee.  All of the materials
presented at this conference will be a useful addition to your library
of reference material.

Our next conference will be Phoenix in July.  Start stocking up on
sunscreen, it is going to be toasty.  Until then, stay safe.
